CCAP asbl – Clinique de Consultance et d'Assistance Psychologique is a Congolese NGO founded in 2019 by a group of clinical psychologists in Uvira, South Kivu, eastern DRC. It is officially registered with the Ministry of Justice (N°JUS/SG/20/TL/018/2022) and coordinated by Cécile Apolline Shabani. CCAP was established to respond to the cumulative psychological trauma experienced by communities in eastern DRC, resulting from decades of armed conflict, inter-ethnic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, and other crises affecting mental health. Mission & Vision: To provide quality psychosocial assistance and mental health services to affected populations, strengthen community resilience, and work toward a society where mental health is accessible to all. Areas of intervention: MHPSS, gender-based violence, and child protection — within South Kivu province, primarily in and around Uvira. Currently, CCAP has expanded its interventions into other provinces through the presence of locally recruited MHPSS focal point experts, who provide psychosocial support to populations affected by trauma in the provinces of North Kivu, Ituri, Tshopo, Maniema, Tanganyika, and the provincial city of Kinshasa. Team includes clinical psychologists, psychosocial assistants, a programme officer, coordinator, and administrative/logistics support. Staff recruited locally in other provincial cities as MHPSS focal point experts working on behalf of CCAP are based at the following sites: Bukavu (1 clinical psychologist), Goma (1 clinical psychologist), Beni (1 clinical psychologist), Bunia (1 clinical psychologist), Kisangani (1 clinical psychologist), Kalemie (1 clinical psychologist), Maniema (1 clinical psychologist), and the provincial city of Kinshasa (1 clinical psychologist).
