Call For Papers Red Cross Red Crescent

Dear all,

We are very happy to announce that the Call for Papers is now open for the 2nd Research Carnival on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), taking place from 23–25 September 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. Hosted by the Kenya Red Cross Society and co-organised by the RCRC Movement MHPSS Hub, the British Red Cross and Swiss Red Cross and in partnership with Protect Humanitarians, this year’s Carnival brings a renewed focus on global diversity, Indigenous knowledge, and the protection of humanitarian workers.

The theme for 2026, "Reimagining Wellbeing: Indigenous Knowledge and Approaches and Protection of Humanitarian Workers," invites researchers, practitioners, students, community leaders, and humanitarian actors to explore how wellbeing is understood, practiced, and protected across different cultural and operational contexts. One full thematic day, organised in partnership with Protect Humanitarians, will be dedicated to research and practice related to staff care, duty of care, and the safety and recovery of humanitarian workers and volunteers.

We welcome submissions in the form of individual papers, panel proposals, or workshop proposals. Contributions may address a wide range of topics, including Indigenous and community-led approaches to wellbeing, critiques of dominant MHPSS models, organisational staff care, recovery after violence, decolonial frameworks, climate-related mental health impacts, and more. Submissions are encouraged from all career stages and disciplines.
